Chimney Crown Repair

The crown is the concrete roof of your chimney — and when it cracks, every rain pours water into the masonry below it. Most of the brick and liner damage we repair traces back to a crown that failed years earlier.

Two fixes, honestly assigned

Hairline and minor cracking gets a flexible crown-coat: an elastomeric layer that seals the surface and moves with thermal cycles instead of cracking like rigid patches do. Crowns that are crumbling, delaminated, or poured wrong in the first place (flat, no overhang, mortar instead of concrete) get recast properly — sloped to shed, with a drip edge that keeps runoff off the brick.

Why winter is the deadline

Texas freeze-thaw is the crown killer: water sits in a crack, freezes, and wedges it wider — every cycle, all winter. A $-hundreds crown-coat in October routinely prevents the brick-and-liner repair that costs ten times that by March.

Common Questions

How long does a crown coat last?

Quality elastomeric coatings carry 10–15 year manufacturer warranties and flex through heat and freeze cycles. A proper recast is a multi-decade fix.

Can I just caulk the crack?

Hardware-store caulk on a crown survives one summer of UV and thermal movement. The materials matter here — this is the most weather-exposed concrete on your house.
