Chimney Cap Installation

An uncapped flue is an open pipe to the sky: rain pours in (the number one cause of liner corrosion), embers float out, downdrafts blow smoke back into the room, and every raccoon in the neighborhood knows about it. The cap is the cheapest insurance on the whole stack.

Stainless or copper, fitted — not 'close enough'

Stainless steel caps carry lifetime manufacturer warranties and shrug off everything Texas throws; copper costs more and ages into the patina that makes a roofline. Either way the fit is custom: we measure your flue (single, multi, or odd-size masonry) and anchor the cap so the next 70-mph gust front doesn’t relocate it.

One part, four jobs

A proper cap with mesh screening keeps rain off the liner, contains embers that would land on your roof, blocks birds and raccoons, and — with the right hood design — kills wind-driven downdrafts. If your fireplace smokes on windy days, the cap consultation might be the whole fix.

Common Questions

Galvanized caps are cheaper — why not?

They rust through in 7–9 Texas years and streak the chimney on the way out. The stainless upgrade costs less than one service call and never comes back to bite.

Can one cap cover my two flues?

Yes — multi-flue caps cover the whole crown with one hood. Often the better look and the better price vs two singles, and it shields the crown concrete as a bonus.
