Chimney Liner Installation

The liner is the layer between 1,000-degree flue gases and your home’s structure. Unlined chimneys (common in pre-1940s homes) and cracked clay tiles both fail the same test: they let heat and carbon monoxide reach places they must never reach.

Stainless steel, sized to the appliance

We install UL-listed stainless liners — rigid where the flue runs straight, flexible where offsets demand it — sized to the appliance they serve. Sizing is the craft: too big cools the gases and breeds creosote, too small chokes the draft. Insulated liners keep flue temps up, which means better draft and less buildup, and they’re required for most wood-burning conversions.

When relining is the answer

Cracked clay tiles found in a Level 2, a fuel switch (wood stove into an old open flue, or gas logs into an oversized chimney), water-damaged liners, or any unlined flue. Relining converts a compromised chimney into a continuous sealed system — usually in a single day, with photos and documentation your insurer accepts.

Common Questions

Clay tile vs stainless — which is better?

Intact clay is fine and lasts decades. But repairing damaged clay means relining anyway — and stainless installs in a day, seals as one column, and carries a lifetime warranty. For repairs and conversions, stainless wins on every axis.

Does a new liner change how the fireplace burns?

Usually for the better: correct sizing and insulation improve draft noticeably — faster starts, less smoke roll, less creosote. Several customers have told us the fireplace finally “works like it should’ve all along.”
