Chimney Inspection Level 2
The Level 2 is the camera inspection — required whenever a home changes hands, the fuel type changes, or a new liner or appliance goes in. If your realtor said “get the chimney inspected,” this is the one they mean.
A video scan of the entire flue
Everything in a Level 1, plus a camera run through the full length of the flue and a check of accessible attics, crawl spaces, and basements the chimney passes through. The camera finds what eyes can’t: cracked flue tiles, gaps between liner sections, and hidden moisture damage.
A report built for the transaction
You get a written report with photos that holds up with realtors, buyers, and insurance companies. For buyers it’s leverage — a cracked liner found before closing is the seller’s problem, not yours.

Common Questions
Who pays for the Level 2 in a home sale?
Either side can order it; buyers usually do, alongside the general inspection. General home inspectors look up the flue with a flashlight — they don’t scan it. That’s why the standard calls for a Level 2 at every transfer.
My fireplace works fine — can a Level 2 still find problems?
Often, yes. A flue can draft well and still have cracked tiles letting heat reach the framing. Working and safe are not the same thing — that’s exactly what the camera settles.
