Chimney Nest Removal

A nest in your flue is kindling stacked directly above your fireplace — twigs, dried grass, and fur parked in the hottest airstream in the house. It also chokes the draft that keeps carbon monoxide moving out instead of in.

Complete removal, not a push-through

Pushing a nest down into the smoke shelf just relocates the fire hazard. We extract the material completely, check the flue walls underneath for staining and damage the nest hid, and vacuum the smoke shelf where debris collects.

Then we make it not happen again

Birds remember good real estate. Every nest removal ends with a screened cap or animal guard sized to your flue — the permanent fix that costs a fraction of a second visit. If the old cap failed and let the nest in, we’ll show you why before replacing it.

Common Questions

How do I know there's a nest and not just debris?

Chirping or scratching is definitive, but a silent clue is draft: smoke curling back into the room or a fireplace smell that worsened over spring. A flashlight up past the damper often shows the shadow.

Can I light a fire to smoke them out?

Please don’t — you’d be lighting the nest itself, and if animals are present it’s both cruel and illegal for protected species. The safe removal costs less than the chimney fire.
