Chimney Deep Cleaning (PCR)

Frequent fires build creosote faster than brushes can handle: it hardens into a glazed, tar-like layer on the flue walls that a standard sweep just polishes. PCR deep cleaning strips it — that’s the difference between cleaning the chimney and grooming it.

Two technicians, one system under control

One tech works from the rooftop driving the cleaning system down the flue; the second manages containment and vacuums at ground level. The flue gets stripped top to bottom, then the damper and firebox are restored, and the chimney interior is refreshed. Glazed creosote is the most flammable form there is — removing it is the whole point.

When you need PCR instead of a sweep

Daily-burn households, fireplaces that smell strongly in summer humidity, shiny tar-looking deposits visible above the damper, or a flue that’s gone years between cleanings. If a sweep is due every year, a deep clean is typically due after several heavy seasons — we’ll tell you which one your flue actually needs.

Common Questions

How is PCR different from a regular sweep?

A sweep removes loose and flaky buildup. PCR mechanically strips the hardened, glazed layer bonded to the flue wall — the stage of creosote that brushes can’t touch and fires love.

How do I know if my creosote is glazed?

Look above the damper with a flashlight: dull black flakes mean sweep; a shiny, wet-looking tar surface means glaze. Send us a photo and we’ll tell you which service to book.
