Chimney Inspection Level 1
The Level 1 is the once-a-year checkup for a chimney that gets regular use and hasn’t changed since last season. It’s the inspection most DFW homes actually need — and the one insurers expect to see on record.
What a Level 1 covers
We examine every readily accessible part of the system: the firebox and damper from below, the flue from both ends, the exterior masonry, the crown, and the cap. We’re verifying the structure is sound, the joints are tight, nothing is obstructing the flue, and creosote hasn’t passed safe levels. If buildup is at the 1/8-inch mark, we’ll tell you on the spot and can usually sweep the same visit.
Why annually — even if you barely burn
Texas weather works on a chimney whether or not you light fires: summer heat opens mortar joints, fall storms drive rain into hairline cracks, and animals look for any uncapped flue. An annual look catches all of it while the fix is still small.

Common Questions
Do I need a Level 1 if the fireplace is gas?
Yes — gas burns cleaner but still vents through the same flue, and the structure weathers the same Texas seasons. Annual is the standard for every fuel.
How long does it take?
Usually 45–60 minutes. If we find something, you get photos and an exact written quote before anything else happens.
