Chimney Vent Installation
Beyond the fireplace, a house full of gas appliances vents through the same chases and chimneys — water heaters, furnaces, inserts. When those vents are mis-sized, disconnected in the attic, or rusted open, the failure is invisible and the product is carbon monoxide.
The vents nobody looks at
Water-heater and furnace vents routed through chimneys are the most neglected metal in the house. We find them disconnected at attic joints, rusted through at the draft hood, or orphaned in an oversized flue after a furnace upgrade — each one a CO pathway. We re-route, re-size, and seal them to current code.
The orphaned water heater problem
When a furnace gets upgraded to high-efficiency PVC venting, the old water heater is often left alone in a chimney sized for both — too big a flue for too small an appliance. It condenses, corrodes, and drafts poorly. The fix is a properly sized liner for the water heater — a half-day job that ends the slow corrosion.

Common Questions
How would I know my water heater vent has a problem?
Corrosion streaks on the vent, white powder at joints, or moisture around the draft hood. A CO alarm near the utility room is the backstop every DFW home should have anyway.
Is this related to my chimney?
Often the vent runs through it. One visit covers both: we scan the chimney flue and verify every appliance venting into it.
