Fireplace Panel Replacement

Prefab fireboxes are lined with refractory panels — molded heat shields that take the flame so the steel shell and the wall framing never do. Panels are consumables: when they crack past the safe line, replacement is the design working as intended.

Matched to the unit, not 'universal'

Panels are model-specific in size, thickness, and rating. We identify your fireplace (the data plate hides behind the screen, usually) and fit manufacturer or certified-equivalent panels — back wall, side walls, or the full set. Universal panels trimmed to “close” leave gaps exactly where the heat concentrates.

The replacement line, measured

Industry rule: a crack that holds a nickel’s edge (~1/16”), crumbling surfaces, or any gap exposing the metal shell behind — replace. Hairlines are cosmetic. We measure and photograph so the verdict is evidence, not vibes; if yours are fine, that’s what we say.

Common Questions

How long do refractory panels last?

Typically 10–20 years depending on burn habits. Big roaring fires in a cold box and self-igniting logs shorten the curve; moderate fires stretch it.

Can I replace just the cracked one?

Yes, if the others measure sound — panels fail individually. We check the set and replace what the measurements condemn, not the whole box by default.
