Pilot Assembly Replacement
When a pilot needs relighting every week, drops out in wind, or won’t hold the main burner anymore, the assembly — pilot hood, thermocouple, thermopile, orifice — has simply worn out. Replacing it as a unit beats chasing components one by one.
Why the whole assembly
Thermocouples and thermopiles age together — replace one and the other fails next season, with a second service call attached. A complete assembly restores the hood geometry (which protects the flame), fresh sensors, and a clean orifice in one visit, with one warranty.
Set up to spec, not to 'looks right'
Flame impingement on the sensors has a specification — the blue cone touching the upper 3/8” of the thermocouple — and millivolt output has numbers we test against. That’s the difference between a pilot that holds for a decade and one that's mysterious every winter.
The Pilot Visit
- Complete assembly: hood, thermocouple, thermopile, orifice
- Millivolt output tested to spec
- Flame geometry set correctly
- Leak test on the pilot tube
- Single visit, single warranty
Common Questions
Pilot lights but won't stay lit when I release the knob. The assembly?
That’s a thermocouple failing to hold the safety circuit — the textbook assembly replacement. Quick fix, modest part.
Why does my pilot blow out on windy days?
Drafts reaching the firebox through the flue — sometimes a worn hood, often a missing wind-rated cap upstairs. We fix the assembly and tell you honestly if the chimney top is the real culprit.
